What is Insight and Why is it Important?

image781

Parenting can bring much joy but there are also times that parenting can feel confusing, frustrating, triggering, and exhausting. Typically, when your efforts as a parent are not resulting in the outcomes you hoped for the problem lies in two key areas:

1. You have not fully understood the problem.

2. Your goals or expectations may not realistic at the moment.

What is needed is increased INSIGHT.

The definition of insight includes the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person and/or circumstances. Sometimes when you are too close to the situation and emotionally invested, it is difficult to gain valuable insight. The psychologists at Insight Assessment and Counselling services can support parents in developing more accurate evaluations of their children, and any problems they and/or the family as a unit may be experiencing. This can lead to a more effective response including setting achievable goal expectations and co-creating the conditions where everyone involved can achieve greater success.
